Aims for the task: To show how racism is in everything and how even the big companies use it.

Comment on your performance and the progress you made in achieving the aims above: We did a good group work, we achieved the idea we had and we had our ideas well developed, my performance was good, well known information.
Include specific examples of your content, structure and sequencing, and language choices to support your reflection:
We included ads form different times of history, we structure the information first and then the ad analysis, we used formal language, but the ads we showed had different languages.

We made an oral presentation about racism, with the purpose of understanding a Little bit more about in wich point something starts being racist.. We achieved our purpose by mixing information and examples. We analysed different ads, from different times, for example, we saw an ad from the mid 50`s, wich was very racist, very explicit, compared to the ads we saw from now a days. Also, we saw that sometimes the language used is the cause of something being racist, the image linked to a phrase can mean something different form the normal meaning, for example in the ad about soap, we saw a White boy saying a black boy to wash himself. As it was a formal presentation, we chose to use formal language, the exceptions were some of the ads, with more coloquial language. Our structure idea was to explain and define the key concepts of our presentation and the analyse some real advertising, to see how the elements are used. As a group I think we did a good performance, we achieved what we wanted to and we were able to explain and analyse the ads we showed to our classmates, my particular perfomance was good, I dominated the information and the things I had tos ay and explained the. To finish, I think that we achieved what we wanted, and that we progressed a lot during our time to prepare the presentation, and maybe we should have included more information, or more ads from the 1900`s

Volkswagen ad

The tone is ironic and apologizing. The register is formal as it is an ad from a serious company, trying to sound like a message to their car owners. The image of the car contributes by showing it like an old car in a perfect shape except for the glove compartment issue (ironic). The ad takes advantage of the idea we have of the spected duration of a common car, it shows us how the car has just a little failure after years of use. The key words of the ad are no complains, replaced for free and the dates. Tthe style is very ironic.

Rule of three

The rule of three is a technique that states that things that come in threes are funnier, more satisfying and more effective

Our priorities are “Education, Education, Education” – Prime Minister, Tony Blair
This clearly wants to make sure people know that their focus will be on education, in prepring the future.

“Government of the people, by the people, for the people”- the Gettysburg Address
This one states that people are the ones who decide how a country will be, they decide how to do everything

“This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning”- Sir Winston Churchill
Mr. Churchill clarifies that something isn`t nearly over, but on it`s development state, they are not begining and not ending, they are on the middle of it

Angus AD

1.- McDonalds
2.- It attracts. The colors in the backgroudn and the perfection of the image make the hamburger desiarable. The words used make us clear that the hamburger is so good that we will give our full attention to it, to enjoy it.
3.-  Perfection, concentration, hapiness.
4.- People who don`t eat meat, as they wouldn`t care about this product.
5.- To attratc and encourge people to enjoy the McDonalds hamburger

register and style

We learned register and style this classes, being register the way we tell something, with formal words, non-formal, etc, and style is the specific words we use to describe what we want to say. We also learned about jargon, pronunciation and dialect. These are important elements to consider when we analyse media.

March 8th

On march 8th we started studing mass comunication and media. We learned about the different media, the new and old, we developed a mind map, and more. We learned that sometimes sources may be unreliable and that internet has provided us with non mainstream information, because the mainstream media doesn`t inform about important news anymore. We were shown the different models of media.

Activity 4.5

This cartoon tries to give us the idea that companies have easy way to manipulate people I think using a cartoon is a good idea, because cartoons are kind of inocent, and this cartoon makes fun of people for believing to easily what they are told, for being stupid. The business men know that what they are proposing as a slogan isn`t truth, but they`ll use it anyway. We tend to believe all that we read, so the ad might really work well.

I think is right, because cigarettes are very dangerous, but I think it`s not fair, because other types of companies can put almost whatever they want
